We mobilize the private sector for biodiversity action
Biodiversity loss has become one of the most urgent and least addressed risks of our time. Healthy ecosystems underpin more than half of global GDP, yet species decline, soil degradation, and ecosystem instability are accelerating faster than corporate and financial systems are prepared for. For businesses, this is no longer a distant environmental issue - it is a material economic challenge affecting supply-chain resilience, operational continuity, regulatory exposure, and long-term value creation.
But while the need for action is clear, companies often face barriers: fragmented data, unclear standards, limited internal awareness, and a lack of proven business cases. As a result, biodiversity remains underprioritized in boardrooms despite its strategic relevance.
The European Biodiversity Coalition brings together companies ready to change this trajectory. By collaborating across sectors, co-developing solutions, strengthening the business case for biodiversity, and engaging with leading scientists and practitioners, we signal that the private sector has both the responsibility and the economic incentive to act now. Through joint learning, shared ambition, and collective influence, the coalition aims to accelerate corporate contributions to a nature-positive future
-and make biodiversity a smart business move.
